'Listen to Michigan' campaign urges Democrats to vote 'uncommitted' in February primary

DEARBORN, Mich. (WWMT) — A campaign launched by Michigan community members and Democratic leaders is urging voters to vote "uncommitted" in the Feb. 27 primary.
Called the 'Listen to Michigan' campaign, the initiative looks to "mobilize" Democrats and independents across the state, and leverage the primary "as a means to express democratic dissent and demand change," according to officials in a release.
It also demands that President Joe Biden support a ceasefire and stop funding the war in Gaza, officials said.
It's a call to action for our pro-ceasefire voters, our anti-war voters, and really voters who care about humanity, to vote uncommitted February 27," Layla Elabed, campaign manager, said.According to Elabed, the supporters of 'Listen to Michigan' did back Biden during the 2020 election because they believed he was going to "give us something different."
We believed in your stance in humanitarian politics but it's very obvious and evident that you have abandoned those politics, you have abandoned the promises that you ran your campaign on," Elabed said.By voting uncommitted, Michigan's Democrats can make it known that voters do not back "policies that perpetuate violence and injustice," the campaign argues.
"President Biden needs to realign his policies with the values of peace and humanity to earn our votes," Elabed summarized.
The Biden administration dispatched national security officials to Michigan Wednesday to meet with Arab and other grassroots leaders to discuss their perspective on the war.
