Smiths Grocery Stores Now Accepting EBT Cards For Curbside Pickup

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Shoppers who rely on government benefits can now shop on the Smith’s app, and pay with their Electronic Benefits Transfer cards (EBT) for curbside pickup.
Shoppers can also submit their order at the company’s website.
“Smith’s is rolling out a payment capability across our grocery stores to allow more customers to access fresh, affordable food and essentials through our Pickup service,” said Aubriana Martindale, corporate affairs manager for Smith’s. “We are committed to supporting all families as we work together with our associates and communities and government agencies and health organizations to flatten the curve during this unprecedented pandemic.”
The curbside pickup works the same as most other pickup apps – select the closest Smith’s store, shop and place your order, then specify a date and time for the pickup.
When it comes time to pay, customers can select the SNAP/EBT option.
A Smith’s employee will shop for a person’s order, then bring it out to the pickup section of the parking lot.
When the employee shows up to the car, the person can pay for the order with their EBT card.
There are more than seventy pickup locations for the grocery chain.
Smith’s officials said they have hired more employees to make the system more efficient.
All pickup fees have been waived, and there is no minimum purchase required for customers to use the pickup option.
Officials said people can also use the service to pickup their prescriptions.
